Successful candidates will work closely with full-time faculty to ensure that courses align with department and program standards, learning outcomes, and academic integrity. Responsibilities include developing course materials, managing classroom and lab instruction, evaluating student progress, and maintaining accurate records. Summary of Responsibilities

 

  • Design and teach courses in the field of Information Management or Business/Finance/Marketing Education.
  • Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
  • Prepares instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, etc.) as necessary.
  • Instructs, manages, and supervises students in classrooms and computer labs using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Evaluates instruction and learning by means of appropriate testing methods and in consultation with full-time faculty.
  • Works closely with an assigned full-time faculty member to ensure academic standards, department standards, and course/program outcomes are met in each class taught.
  • Maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
  • Assists advisors, department chairperson and or program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
  • Improves professionally and maintains currency in the courses taught by:
    • Reading and utilizing materials found in trade, technical, and professional publications.
    • Obtaining and maintaining certification and degrees as required.
    • Attending professional and specialty courses.
    • Keeping abreast of new development trends, and techniques.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with the academic freedom and professional responsibility statement and adheres to these policies.

 

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited college with an associate of applied science degree in the subject matter or a closely related area and four years of teaching or closely related professional experience OR five years closely related professional experience.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge


  • Substantive knowledge of Information Management or Business/Finance/Marketing Education subject matter and course content of classes to be taught, instructional strategies, and techniques.
  • Substantive knowledge of word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software, or SQL and video editing and image editing software.
  • Substantive knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Substantive knowledge of evaluation of instruction, curriculum development, and program development and evaluation.
  • Thorough knowledge of appropriate field of study.
Skills
  • Effective human relations skills and communication techniques.
  • Excellent public speaking and writing skills.
Abilities
  • Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
